Ph.D. theses: Structure and characters of functioning of trematode, Helicometra fasciata (Rud., 1819) parasite system in the Black Sea near-shore.
In the dissertation occurrence of 42 digenean species from the Black Sea fish was confirmed, including two new species, Cainocreadium flesi and Peracreadium gibsoni. Two species, Pseudobacciger harengulae and Aphallus tubarium, were recorded from the Black Sea for the first time. The host-range was extended for 18 digenean species. Helicometra fasciata maritae were recorded from eight new fish hosts. Many aspects of the life-cycle and ecology of H. fasciata were investigated including studies on the castration of the intermediate short-lived mollusk host, Gibbula adriatica, by sporocysts, population dynamics of metacercariae in Palaemon elegans shrimps and maritae in different fish hosts, phenetic structure of H. fasciata maritae hemipopulation. The methodical approach and formula to estimate the degree of importance of definitive hosts for helminth population systems were proposed.

Scientific interests
Main field: Trematodes of marine fishes, in particular Black Sea fishes.
Population biology (especially hostal variability), and life histories, fauna and systematics of trematodes; parasites as biological tags of fish population and sub-population groups.
Current research interests: studying of the structure and mechanisms of functioning of trematode populations (= parasite systems) in a coastal zone of the Black Sea.
